Dosa & Curries
Dosa & Curries at 114 Gloucester St, Ottawa, ON K1P 5Z9, Canada, is the kind of place where South Indian flavors meet hearty North Indian favorites, all under one roof. A quick call to +1 613-231-6550 makes it easy to book a table or place a takeaway order, but the real experience is sitting down to a meal that feels both comforting and vibrant.
The menu is extensive, with dosas being the star attraction—thin, golden crepes made from fermented rice and lentil batter, rolled or folded around fillings like spiced potatoes, paneer, or even chicken tikka. On my last visit, the masala dosa was crisp on the outside yet soft in the center, paired perfectly with coconut chutney and sambar. If you’re more into rich gravies, the curries here are equally satisfying, from creamy butter chicken to fiery lamb vindaloo. Reviews often point out the generous portions, making it a great value whether you’re grabbing lunch alone or sharing with friends.
What stood out to me was how consistent the flavors were across different dishes. Indian food relies heavily on layering spices, and this kitchen understands that balance well—nothing felt overwhelming, yet every bite carried depth. Locations like this in downtown Ottawa often struggle to capture authenticity, but here you can taste the care in preparation. Experts in Indian cuisine emphasize that fermentation is key for dosas to develop their tang and crispness, and the chefs here clearly follow that traditional process.
From a trust perspective, it’s reassuring to see so many repeat customers praising the same qualities: freshness, flavor, and fair pricing. For anyone exploring restaurants in Ottawa, this spot delivers on both variety and authenticity. Whether you’re in the mood for a light dosa or a hearty curry plate, Dosa & Curries manages to satisfy cravings while keeping the experience approachable and enjoyable.

April 2025 4* Visited the place for quick dinner at this restaurant as the place is open till late night. It is simple place and you can find quick food. Here is my food list: - Idli and Sambhar **** - Masala Dosa *** I was surprised that they severed different sambhar with idli and dosa. Idli was good but I did not like Dosa.
*****Must Visit The Place***** Food was amazing. Flavour was well balanced and authentic. I can not describe my experience in word. I tried mysur masala dosa, medu vada and uttapam. I loved their tomato chutney. Price is reasonable and food quantity was enough to fill my hunger. I will visit you guys again on my next tour to ottawa. I was afraid of parking space but they have enough street parking space.
The restaurant had a nice Indian-style theme and we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. We tried the masala cheese dosa. It tasted good but the cheese was not mixed well with the masala inside the dosa, so the flavors felt a bit separate. The Schezwan masala cheese dosa was much better with a nice spicy taste and good flavor overall. The sambar vada was really tasty and fresh. The filter coffee was also very good and had a strong authentic South Indian taste. Overall, it was a good experience with tasty food. I would visit again, especially for the sambar vada and filter coffee.
It was my first time trying Dosa, and it blew my mind! Loved how crispy on the edges and soft and comforting in the inside. They recommended me to try Onion Pakoda as well, and the crispness on that was insane!! Absolutely loved here, if I ever visit Ottawa again this is my first place to eat on the list
If you're a fan of authentic dosas and flavorful curries, Dosa and Curries is an absolute gem! The dosas are crispy, light, and perfectly seasoned, while the veggie and non-veg curries are rich in flavor, with just the right balance of spices. Every dish is made with love and tradition, and it really shows in the taste. Now, don't let the simple ambiance fool you—this is a spot where the food truly shines! It's clean, homely, and welcoming, and the customer service is top-notch. The staff is incredibly warm, making you feel like you're dining at a friend's place. Plus, the price is more than fair for the quality of food you're getting. If you're used to restaurants with fancy decor but mediocre food, Dosa and Curries is a refreshing change. It’s a perfect example of how great food and good service should always come first. Highly recommend!
